... It's over. And I'm going to miss it.
And yet, I had mixed feelings about the finale. They were good episodes, but I don't think they were the best I've seen. Not like Tales of Ba Sing Se or Lake Laogai.
I was disappointed in Aang. Someone mentioned how he spent three episodes whining about killing Ozai. He should have killed Ozai. That same person said although Aang didn't want to kill, he did kill the men on Ozai's ship when it went down. But he wouldn't kil Ozai? And not like living in prison without your bending for the rest of your natural life is better than dying.
The plot line was also kinda strange. Zuko becoming Fire Lord? While I agree with the idea, Iroh should have taken over for at least a few years to show Zuko the ropes. And what happened to Roku's hair piece thing? That, and his relation to Zuko never showed up again. The going back to the Fire Nation thing was wierd, even if the Katara/Azula fight was epic. The White Lotus thing also seemed a little forced, and we never got to see the rest of the invasion force or Mai or Ty Lee until the end. And if the Fire nation was just going to steamroll over the Earth Kingdom, why didn't the troops with earthbending tunnel and build a series of bunkers and tunnels a la Iwo Jima? And what happened to Hakoda, Haru, The Duke, etc.?
And the Chemistry nerd inside me cringes at Toph's metal armor. That door is most likely not insulated(why would it be?) so it should heat up. And because metal has a low specific heat, that metal would have toasted her like a hot potato.
I loved the turtle. As soon as I saw the island move, I knew it was either a moving island or an island onna turtle. I wish I knew what he said, I couldn't understand him at all.
On the other hand, IROH SMASH! I have been waiting seven months to see that. I liked seeing Pakku again too. And the Katara/Azula was, once again, epic. Poor, insane, unstable Azula. And Zuko has changed so much in so short a thing.
I did enjoy it, and with teh except of Ozai, I enjoyed the finale. It's just that this last season seemed so rushes, especially the second half. Maybe it was mostly because of the scheduling issues and Nick.
Still, here's to the end of a fantastic series. I won't say good bye to this series, because it will never be time to say good bye to Avatar.
